Qualcomm Snapdragon new 7c Gen-2 chipset to revolutionalize mobile computing

Qualcomm consistently has expressed the need of the consumer is mobility, high performance, great efficiency, and the capability to be productive from anyplace, particularly during the most recent year of work-from-home and distant work schedules.

Keeping this in mind, Qualcomm has just launched its all-new Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor. The Snapdragon 7c has been the company’s more successful chipset but with the second-gen of the chipset, the company boasts multi-day battery life, a robust security framework, and enhanced audio and camera functions across entry-level PCs.

Qualcomm announced its chipset in its annual 5G summit and is emphasizing its agenda of ‘Always On, Always Connected.’ During a virtual announcement event, Qualcomm says devices powered by Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 will upgrade entry-level device experiences with enhanced camera and audio capabilities, integrated LTE connectivity, AI acceleration, enterprise-grade security features, and the long-lasting battery life that users deserve.

Miguel Nunes, the company’s Senior Director of Product Management, stated that Qualcomm has been working with Asus, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Microsoft, and Samsung to develop new devices and enable new use cases and increase system security. Nunes also stated, “Laptops powered by this platform will redefine mobile computing for education users, first-line workers, and everyday light consumers, enabling reliable and powerful devices that feature advanced AI, and support for multi-day battery life.”

Qualcomm-powered laptops aim to be always on and connected similar to a smartphone. One big perk of the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 is that it will switch between trusted Wi-Fi and cellular networks, covering the ‘Always-connected’ part. The ‘Always on’ approach will enable IT administrators, to manage and secure devices for their school or enterprise more regularly.

Other features of the next-gen Snapdragon 7c include:

  • A 32-megapixel camera.
  • More than 19 hours of continuous use battery life.
  • The fifth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine to support security and voice recognition.
  • Virtual surround sound with echo cancellation and noise suppression.
  • Support for Windows 10 Hypervisor and Microsoft Secured-Core PCs.

Snapdragon is ready for 7c Gen 2’s entrance into the computing platform market. Paul Hwang, Director of Product Management, states, it will convey “an amazing 60% better [efficient performance] than the competition.”
