This Independence Day, the Flying Sikh Milkha Singh to unfurl tricolour at Michigan

Famously known as the Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh is set to do an honor for the nation. The legendary sprinter is going to unfurl the tricolour this Independence Day at Michigan where the Indian community is going to hold a function to honor him.

Deccan Chronicle reported that Milkha Singh is going to undertake a month-long visit to United States and Canada. He will commence his tour on the 2nd of August and will be taking a part in different functions organised by the Indian community living there.

On Tuesday, he said,

For long, the Indian community in the US and Canada wanted me to come. I will be travelling to Michigan, New York, California (in US) and Toronto (Canada). On August 15, a function has been organised by the Indian community at Michigan, where I will unfurl the tricolour.

He will turn 86 soon and quite obviously, it is difficult for him to take long travels. Despite that, he said,

Yet I could not hold back as our people living abroad wanted me to come and join the celebrations as part of the Independence Day, besides wanting me to be part of some other events.

We can only be proud of the man who has always brought pride and honor to the nation. We salute his spirit!
