This is how a digital Paul Walker was created for Furious 7’s unfinished scenes

The world mourned Paul Walker’s tragic death in November 2013. The Fast and Furious series would have never been the same without Bryan O’Connor, we all knew that. So did the makers of Furious 7. Yes, they were aware that something had to be done about Paul’s part as the movie was midway. They had 2 options – either to rewrite the whole thing, chop off Paul’s role, or carry forward from where he had left using his body double. They chose the latter.

A report just confirmed that the film has a digitally recreated Paul. He was brought to life by the same company that made Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Peter Jackson’s WETA Digital was hired without much fuss to complete the remaining part of Paul’s shoot. The agency has chosen to not comment on it, understandably so.

Only the viewers who will pay careful attention will know the difference in Paul Walker’s unfinished scenes. It will be interesting to note that they were finished using Paul Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody as body doubles.
