Bravery, fighting spirit and patriotism are the 3 things which can be easily found in an army officer. Colonel M M Rai, commanding officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles along with a policemen was killed in a gun battle between the two members of Kashmir separatist group, Hizbul Mujahideen at Mindora village of Tral, yesterday. 
Colonel Rai had received the gallantry medal which was announced on this Republic Day, just two days ago. The police supported by Rashtrya Rifles were on a mission to catch the two militants who had come home. 
The two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were Adil Khan, a local resident of Mindora, and Shiraz Dar. Police also recovered arms and ammunition from their location.
