Ex national gold medalist boxer’s talent ignored; collects garbage to make a living

It is a shame besides being rich with talent, India has not nurtured many of its talented sportsmen and athletes. Indian is a country where most of the sportsmen including the Olympics champions are still struggling to make ends meet and do not get the amount of respect they deserve. Only popular sports like, cricket, tennis, badminton, chess, etc. are encouraged and supported.

Ex national gold medallist boxer, Kamal Kumar is seeing the worst time any famous Boxer could experience. Even after winning many shiny medals for his country, Kamal has not manage to get a decent job to support his family. He now takes care of his family by collecting garbage from every house.

“I have 4 gold medals in the national level, 2 bronze medals in state level. It feels sad that even after doing so well in boxing, I am not able to find a 4th grade job,” Kamal said.

“I had no other option. One has to work to provide for his family.”

Former boxer who now collects garbage said if the government had supported him, he could have made the country proud by bringing home many big medals for his country. His talent has gone ignored and unacknowledged.

He does not have any complains with the government about ignoring his abilities. He now aims at supporting his family. “Even now if the government looks into this, I can get a job.”

He trains his children every day and wants to support them achieve what he could not.  “I hope my children will achieve what I could not.”
